The Country Womens Association For Women, Through Women and By Women
The Country Womens Association (CWA) was founded by Mrs Grace Munro from Keera Station, Bingara in 1922. She believed passionately that a better life for country women could be provided ‘for women, through women and by women’ – now part of the CWA motto.
The Country Womens Association is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in Australia.
Grace was one of seven sisters, born in 1879 on the family property near Warialda (40km North of Bingara). Grace moved to Bingara following her marriage to grazier Hugh Munro in 1898.
Members work for the welfare of all women and their families - city and country - through representation to all levels of government, fundraising events and the teaching of life skills.
Bingara CWA meets every 2nd Thursday at 3.30pm at The Living Classroom, Bingara.
